Designing Startups That Actually Work - HITLAB

“Designing Startups That Actually Work” – Sally Chung from BCG Digital Ventures, hosted by Women's Health Tech Wednesdays , HITLAB

In this Women’s Health Tech session, Sally Chung, a startup design lead at BCG Digital Ventures shared how design plays a critical role in startup success.

She broke down the three pillars of building a company, desirability, viability, and feasibility, and why most startups fail by neglecting the user. Through real-world examples, from scrappy early-stage validation to scaling ventures with Fortune 500 companies, Sally highlighted how product-market fit is built through rapid testing, iteration, and deep user understanding.

From interviewing 200 customers outside Sephora for her own Startup HelloAva, to launching ventures with giant corporate like Marlo, she demonstrated how design decisions directly impact business outcomes, and why the future belongs to design-driven founders.
